The Chicago Blackhawks won the decisive Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinals Wednesday night with a 2-1 victory over the Detroit Red Wings
The Blackhawks, who were the N.1 team in the NHL regular season, will face the defending Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings in the Western Conference finals beginning Saturday June 1st at the United Center and the action will continue in Game 2 on next Sunday at 7 p.m.
This is the first time Chicago made it to the finals since they won the title in 2010, and after last’s night victory the Blackhawks became the 25th team to win a series after trailing 3-1. Before Game 1, Chicago will have two days to refresh and get ready for conference finals and the Kings will have three days of rest.
For Game 1, the bettors opened the NHL betting lines with the Blackhawks as -150 favorites, while the Kings are at +130. However, the odds have L.A. as the second favorite to win the 2013 Stanley Cup at +330, but they will need to grab a game at the United Center if they want to win the series.
On the other hand, the Pittsburgh Penguins will take on the Boston Bruins in Game 1 of the NHL Eastern Conference finals next Saturday June 1st.
During the regular season, the Bruins lost all three games against the Penguins and that’s probably one of the reasons for the odds makers to place the Penguins as the favorites at -170 to win Game 1. But that’s not all. If you like to bet on Stanley Cup, you should take into consideration that Pittsburgh is also the best offensive team in the Eastern Conference.
The final four teams on the playoffs are the four most recent Stanley Cup winners. The Penguins won the cup in the 2008-2009 NHL Season, the Blackhawks did it on 2009-2010, Boston in 2010-2011 and the defending Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings in the 2011-2012 Season.
Here are the odds to win the 2013 Stanley Cup:
Pittsburgh Penguins +155
Los Angeles Kings +330
Chicago Blackhawks +370
Boston Bruins +425
