The NFL action continues this Monday at the Ford Field in the city of Detroit as the Lions welcome the NY Giants in what will be the first official Monday Night Football of the NFL regular season.

The Lions will be hosting this first game after a pretty solid preseason achieving three victories over the Browns, the Jaguars and the Bills. The Lions only had one single loss to the Raiders which was just for one single point.

For this evening betting options is important to take into account the all-time series record between the two teams which stands at 20-20-1, with NY winning last season’s matchup, 23-20, in overtime. A key match up for the game is on WR Calvin Johnson vs. CB Domique Rodgers-Cromartie.

Rodgers-Cromartie is 6-foot-2 and New York is hoping his size and background provide him a better opportunity. While offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi plans to move Johnson around often in this offense to try and get him in optimal matchups. There is no doubt, it’ll be interesting to see if Rodgers-Cromartie spies him all over the field

On the other hand, CB Darius Slay vs. WR Victor Cruz: the Giants move Cruz around quite a bit, so Slay isn’t likely to be on him exclusively, but when he is, it’s a matchup to watch. Cruz is the big-play threat in the Giants passing game and the Lions can’t afford to let him get behind them.  source: http://www.detroitlions.com/

Furthermore, the night continues with the clash between the San Diego Chargers vs Arizona Cardinals at the University of Phoenix Stadium. The betting odds favorite the Cardinals with the following outrights for this evening’s game:

San Diego Chargers  +3  46.5o

Arizona Cardinals     -3  46.5u

Arizona think the team´s secondary is better than last season despite safety Tyrann Mathieu isn’t likely to play. The group needs to prove it and Cornerbacks Patrick Peterson and Antonio Cromartie are likely to play man coverage most of the game, so the pressure is 100% on them to win those matchups.
