Over the past four weeks, thousands of football enthusiasts around the world have watched and witnessed unprecedented football action taking place at different cities of the beautiful World Cup host country – Brazil.
Early this week, the semifinals took place as the four remaining teams faced off to lock a spot at the finals. It is no secret the first match, literally set a pause in the day-a.day lives of millions worldwide as the Germans faced off the five-time world champions Brazil.
The predictions were in favor of Brazil due to their great football background and home ground advantage, despite the fact big stars like Neymar and Thiago Silva were to be absent. But history took a different turn and Germany crushed the Brazilians and their “Jogo Bonito” in less than 30 minutes of the first half. The game became a true nightmare for the hosts, as the Germans kept scoring goal after goal.
For the first time in football history, a team with such history and background as Brazil was overthrown in the worst way possible. By the end of the 90 minutes Germany scored a total of 7 goals while Brazil scored only 1. Germany then, moved to finals for the third time in their history.
On the other hand, the second semi final took place on Wednesday afternoon as the Netherlands were to meet “the Albicelestes” (Argentina´s team) at the Arena Corinthians, in São Paulo. Both teams were completely closed up and the game finished with a 0-0 tie moving to penalty shootouts which Argentina won 2 – 4.
