As we get closer and closer to the half of the NFL regular season more football action and surprises grab our attention towards those NFL powerhouses that are leading the pack and becoming strong candidates to be part of the playoffs.
This coming Sunday October 5th, the NFL games kick off at Bank of America Stadium where the Carolina Panthers will host the Chicago Bears. Carolina´s 2014 preseason was not exactly what the fans were expecting, but the team managed to pull a couple of victories over the Chiefs and the Steelers.
Over the past four weeks, the Panthers have not had the best starting of the regular season and already have on their backs two consecutives loses that have become a real concern for everyone. Furthermore, the most recent news hitting Carolina was released today as defensive end Frank Alexander was suspended for a total of 10 games due to a violation of the league’s substance abuse policy.
Here was Alexander’s statement when he received word of his previous banishment back in May, per ESPN.com’s David Newton:
“I recently learned that I tested positive for a substance that is banned by the NFL. The NFL policy is strict, and I have chosen to take responsibility. I sincerely apologize to my teammates, coaches, and Panthers fans for the effect of my mistake on the team. I will continue to work extremely hard in all team workouts, training camp, and the pre-season with my team. During the suspension, I will stay in top football shape and be ready to contribute immediately upon my return”.
Additionally, here is a quick video on the Panthers running back DeAngelo who is still doubtful for this coming Sunday´s game as Coach Ron Rivera said Williams suffered a foot injury during their last game at Baltimore
On the other hand, the Chicago Bears did also struggle during the preseason and during the past weeks managed to win a couple of times over the San Francisco 49ers and the NY Jets. The following is a video on the Bears´latest players football action
