The first jewel of the Triple Crown – the Kentucky Derby one the most famous horse races in the United States took place last Saturday at Churchill Down in Kentucky.
The race is also known as “the most exciting two minutes in sports” delivered unprecedented action and lots of satisfaction as one of the favorite horses took the crown.
There were a total of 19 contenders, but it was California Chrome that won the first race followed by Commanding Curve and Danza that arrived in second and third place respectively.

Victor Espinoza, the winner jockey who managed California Chrome to victory won his second career Kentucky Derby, while adding another triumph aboard to the one at War Emblem in 2002.
Next May 17th at Pimlico Race Course in Maryland the the second race of the Triple Crown Preakness Stakes will be taking place as the expectations rise on California Chrome if the horse is capable of winning all three races and achieve the this ultimate challenge.
