ATP World #2 is the new Wimbledon Champion

The ATP World Tour has released the tennis world ranking just a day after the end of the Wimbledon the third Grand Slam of the year. Despite his most recent win at Wimbledon, the Scottish Andy Murray remains in the second position and the Serbian Novak Djokovic continues to be at the top of the rankings with a total of 12,310 points.

Spaniards David Ferrer and Rafael Nadal move one position up in the rankings for the third and fourth places respectively, while the Swiss Roger Federer moves two positions down as he was not able to retain his Grand Slam points from last year.

This year’s events at the All England Lawn in London were very diverting and unexpected; as Andy Murray was finally able to conquer the crown at his home yard. On the women´ side the French Marion Bartoli managed her maiden slam even though she was no favorite or had high odds to take the championship.

The sports action continue in Great Britain as one of Golf’s greatest championships will be taking place at in the east coast of Scotland from July 17 to the 21st.  The tournament was first established in 1860 and its prize purse is about £5.25 million in total.
