Although the Kansas City Chiefs parted ways with star running back Kareem Hunt, KC remains the favorite to win the American Football Conference. Right now, the Chiefs are 2/1 faves to beat back the New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers and win the conference championship.
In the NFC, the favorite remains the New Orleans Saints even though like Kansas City, New Orleans had a tough Week 13. The Saints lost for the first time in 10 games when the Dallas Cowboys beat them 13-10. New Orleans should have an easier time picking itself up after losing to the Cowboys than the Chiefs do after losing their star running back.

Hunt’s Gone, But Chiefs Still the AFC Favorites
Why did Kansas City release running back Kareem Hunt? A video emerged showing Hunt attacking a woman. Hunt even kicks the woman while she’s on the ground. Although that’s definitely the main reason KC released one of their top skill players, the real reason they cut him is because a few months ago before the video surfaced, the Chiefs asked Hunt about the incident. He lied to them.
Hunt’s absence should affect AFC Championship odds. Without Hunt, Kansas City’s offense doesn’t figure to be nearly as effective. It looked good versus the Oakland Raiders in Week 13, but that’s more an anomaly than anything else.
The Chiefs remain the favorites, but by the end of this coming week, the New England Patriots, who dominated the Minnesota Vikings in Week 13, should take over as the team to beat in the AFC. Bookies should consider setting max betting limits on New England to win the conference while also allowing more wagers to flow onto the Chiefs.
New England beat Kansas City in the head-to-head. If the two squads end up with the same regular season record, the Patriots get homefield advantage throughout the playoffs.
Saints, Rams Favorites, But Cowboys Rising
Due their awesome 13-10 victory over the New Orleans Saints, the Cowboys figure to rise significantly from their current 16/1 odds to win the NFC. Dallas could fly downward to 10/1 or even lower because not only have the Boys won 4 games, but they’ve also gone 4-0 against the spread and they’ve beaten some respected football teams: Philadelphia and Atlanta on the road and the Saints and Washington at home. Set max betting limits on the Cowboys.
New Orleans offers 3/2 odds to win the NFC. The loss to Dallas shouldn’t affect the Saints’ odds to win the conference that much. The Rams are at 2/1. Los Angeles’ odds could slightly go down because with the Saints losing and the Rams beating Detroit in Week 13, L.A. is now in the driver’s seat for homefield advantage throughout the playoffs.
Per head agents shouldn’t fool around. They must keep max betting limits in place on the Rams, Cowboys, and Saints. All 3 have legitimate shots to win the conference. The Rams could end up with homefield advantage, no team in the league has a better quarterback/coach combination than the Saints while the Cowboys might have the best defense in the NFL.
Strategically use per head software tools to dampen enthusiasm on the Rams, Cowboys, and Saints to win the National Football Conference.
