Super Bowl History

Super Bowl History

The Super Bowl Series started back in 1967 with the First World Championship game of the AFL versus the NFL where the Green Bay Packers managed to win over  the Chiefs, 35 to 10.

Super Bowl I is one of the most remembered games in the history of the professional football and Super Bowl championships. The Packers made a total amount of $15,000 per man, while the Chiefs $7,500 basically the largest one single-game amount up to that moment.

The Packers were the first to score with three second-half touchdowns one of which was on Willie Woods account as he made a 50-yard return key interception while Elijah Pitts ran for two other scores. On the Chiefs´end they only managed one touchdown (10) a 7-yard pass from Len Dawson to Curtis McClinton.

One decade later, in 1976 Super Bowl X took place as the Pittsburgh Steelers faced Dallas Cowboys for a final score of  21 to 17. It was the Steelers second Super Bowl victory in a row.

This was also one of the best football games in history, as Pittsburgh Bradshaw managed 2 touchdown passes one to Randy Grossman and another one to Lynn Swann. He established a Super Bowl record gaining 161 yards on his 4 receptions.

In 1987 the New York Giants played the Denver Broncos at Super Bowl XXI at the verge of a decade that brought many changes to the sport of football and to the league itself. This became New York´s first title since 1956 winning over Denver 39 to 20.

During the third period, the Giants took complete control of the match, a 30-point second half, the most points ever scored in one half of Super Bowl play.
