Football is Back!! … the wait is over, the 2014-15 NFL regular season starts on September 4th and there will be Thursday night action at the CenturyLink Field. Seattle Seahawks will be hosting the first game of the season welcoming the Green Bay Packers.
Seattle Seahawks arrive to their first real regular season game with 2 losses and 2 victories over San Diego Chargers and Chicago Bears no more than an up and down preseason for them, but their recent loss to the Raiders was quite shocking for Seattle’s football enthusiasts.
During the offseason, there was no other Seattle player garnering more media attention than running back Christine Michael. Seattle coaching staff and front office raved about the second-year pro’s potential. Seahawks’ season opener will be taking place in less than a week and Michael still finds himself third on Seattle’s depth chart behind Lynch and Robert Turbin.
Offensive line coach Tom Cable told Jenks, the key for Michael now is consistency: You might see the great cut one time and then not the next, and it’s the exact same scenario. He comes across and makes a great pickup and then he’s supposed to chip and then, “Oh, I’m going to get out for my route and, oops, I forgot to chip.” It’s just being able to put a good play together and then a good one the next time and the next time. When that becomes his habit, then he owns it. Right now, he doesn’t own it.
Michael himself conceded that there’s still a lot of work to be done. “Doing the small things right,” he said. “Knowing who to block, ball security, the passing game.”
If we take a look into history, it was back in 2012 when Seattle hosted Green Bay and we all witnessed one of the most infamous games ever. Next Thursday night, Seattle stands as Super Bowl defending champions and there are high expectations on what the outcome will be.
On the other hand, the Packers have a great quarterback Aaron Rodgers and they plan to zoom down the field at a faster pace than ever before, but let’s not forget that after Rodgers’ injury last season, keeping the quarterback upright is a real concern. There is no doubt, the Packers need left tackle David Bakhtiari after the team´s recent injuries: Center JC Tretter (knee) is out indefinitely and super-backup Don Barclay tore an ACL.
These are some of the Packers recent stats:

Another important fact, is that while at training camp, the Packers defensive rush was just fantastic. The combination of Daniels (4), Clay Matthews (3) and Mike Neal (3) have combine for 10 quarterback hurries in limited preseason play. And let’s not forget Julius Peppers looking sprier than the last few years.
These are the latest betting odds on the NFL regular season opener for next Thursday night:
Green Bay Packers +5 46 O/U
Seattle Seahawks -5 46 O/U
Total: o: -110 / u: -110
