Not all NFL Divisional Round game favorites covered the spread, but all 4 favorites did win their contests and move on to the NFL Conference Championships. In the NFC, the Los Angeles Rams will battle the New Orleans Saints for the right to go to the Super Bowl. In the AFC, the New England Patriots take on the Kansas City Chiefs for the right to head to Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.
Pay per head agents should be aware of the likely Super Bowl 53 futures changes that will happen this week. They must make sure to set max betting limits. They should also consider opening betting up for a couple of teams.
Super Bowl 53 Updated Odds
New Orleans Saints +225
Kansas City Chiefs +450
L.A. Rams +450
New England Patriots +500
The Saints could remain the favorite, but it’s hard to see the Patriots and Chiefs not leapfrogging the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams didn’t play as well as they probably should have against the Dallas Cowboys. On offense, Los Angeles looked great. But, on defense, the Rams allowed the Cowboys to go up 7-0. Then, after getting a decent sized lead, they allowed the Cowboys to get within 8 points.
It’s true that the Saints only beat the Eagles 20-14, but the Saints looked better beating the Eagles than the Rams looked beating the Cowboys. The Saints had an over 13 minute drive in the second half of their win. This happened after the Eagles jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. What the Saints did on both sides of the ball had to impress after brushing off the rust that came with the two weeks off.
New Orleans handled quarterback Nick Foles. They might have an easier time against Jared Goff. If Goff doesn’t come with his “A” game, New Orleans should easily win and head to Super Bowl 53. Make sure max betting limits are on New Orleans, but it might be a good idea to open up wagering on the Rams.
The Chiefs looked great when decimating the Indianapolis Colts. It’s hard to know why the Colts had so much trouble moving the football versus a bad Kansas City defense. It’s not hard to see how the Patriots could easily move the football against KC this coming Sunday.
The Chiefs’ odds should dive, possibly to favoritism over the Saints and Rams this week. But, Kansas City faces one of the few teams to beat them during the regular season. Sure, KC’s a different team than they were in Week 5. So are the New England Patriots. Kansas City must step it up big time to stop a suddenly great Patriots’ rushing attack.
That won’t be easy. If Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs find themselves playing catchup, a similar game like the 40-43 loss in New England could happen. Kansas City won’t play great defense two weeks in a row while New England finally has a viable rushing attack.
It feels as if the Chiefs are due for a letdown. Historically, Bill Belichick has gotten the better of Andy Reid. Belichick’s Patriots beat Reid’s Philadelphia Eagles 24-21 in Super Bowl 39. Reid has the team with the best offense he’s ever coached. His defense could be an issue on Sunday, though.
If you’re not risk averse, open up wagering on the Kansas City Chiefs. Per head agents that do so might score big profits.
