The Cavaliers won the lottery for the second time in three years last night, giving them the No. 1 pick for the NBA draft 2013, which will be held on June 27.

The Cavaliers won the draft lottery once again!

On the other hand, the Orlando Magic fell back one spot and get the No. 2 position in the lottery, while the Washington Wizards went third.

The lottery established the top three teams and the rest of the 14 teams finish in opposite order of their record.

Charlotte fell to the fourth spot. Phoenix finished fifth, followed by New Orleans, Sacramento, Detroit, Minnesota, Portland, Philadelphia, Oklahoma City, Dallas, and Utah.

The Orlando Magic was the favorite to win the lottery but they didn’t have much luck last night. The Orlando franchise hasn’t won the lottery since 2004, despite having the poorest record. While last year, Charlotte had the best odds of winning after the worst season in NBA history but fell back one spot to second.

However, by winning this lottery, Cleveland has the chance to analyze their options. They can choose from the top picks or listening to a trade offer for the first pick. If there was a player like Tim Duncan, Shaquille O’Neal, or James available with the No. 1 pick in the 2013 draft, the idea of trading the pick would be senseless. However, nobody is looking at this draft list and fantasizing that the player who goes No. 1 has a quick and easy road to the NBA Hall of Fame.

Though, the potential No. 1 pick this year, Kentucky freshman Nerlens Noel, is not a Kobe Bryant or a James but he could be a nice addition for the Cavs once he’s recovered from a torn ACL, if they decided to pick him. Nevertheless is plenty of caution to be had picking him due to his injury.

Meanwhile, guards Ben McLemore of Kansas and Trey Burke of Michigan, the college player of the year, and Georgetown forward Otto Porter Jr. are considered also top players.

he Cleveland Cavaliers would be foolish not to explore their options, and trading the pick could be a good idea. If the Cavs can bring in a really good veteran in exchange for the first pick, it can be a good move. However, there is plenty of time for the Cavs to analyze and make the best decision. As well, the other top NBA teams in the lottery have also some thinking to do. We will grasp what will happen during this time before the 2013 draft, a lot of things can happen in few days.
