The Heat and Pacers entered this Game 5 in a 2-2 tied with a need for an important victory. However it was another typical battle between LeBron James and Paul George, however the MVP scored 16 points of his 30 points in the third quarter to lead the Miami Heat to a 90-79 comeback victory against the Indiana Pacers to take a 3-2 series lead this past Thursday night.
James ended with 30 points, eight assists, six rebounds, two steals and a block. Udonis Haslem attained 16 points on 8-of-9 shooting. Mario Chalmers stepped up 12 points and six assists.
For Indiana super star, Paul George went off for 27 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and a steal on 11-of-18 shooting. Roy Hibbert ended with 22 points, while David West added 17 points and eight assists.
The Heat opened the second half on a 7-0 run, with great energy on both ends of the floor as the teams exchanged the lead. By the time the quarter ended, the Pacers had been outscored, 30-13, having a 13-point deficit. The Heat continued progressing through the fourth quarter while the Pacers struggled to get back into rhythm, at the end the Pacers’ turnovers and not working out the boards gave Miami the advantage to get the victory.
The series will head back to Indiana on Saturday for Game 6. Miami is just one victory from move forward to the NBA Finals for a third straight season. The winner of this series will play the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals.
