As Super Bowl 2014-15 gets closer the NFL plans to have the roof open at University of Phoenix Stadium for Super Bowl XLIX.
According to AccuWeather.com, the historical average high temperature for Feb. 1 in Glendale, Ariz., is 67 degrees with a low of 43. Extended forecasts suggest rain could hit the area in the week leading up to the game. Of course, plans can change, as they did the last time the NFL’s premier event was in Arizona.
University of Phoenix Stadium has a retractable roof as well as a unique retractable field – a Bermuda grass surface that grows outside and rolls in on a slow-moving barge for Arizona Cardinals training camp and games. The surface could get a major workout in January.
The Cardinals currently lead the NFC West and hold the No. 1 seed with two weeks to play, meaning they could host multiple playoff games. The Pro Bowl also will be played in the stadium one week before the Super Bowl – the second time the NFL has tried it, following the 2010 games at Miami. source: usatoday.com

Furthermore, a rather alarming, out-of-the-blue warning of a possible Super Bowl cancellation was declared by Fox News on Monday, but the NFL dismisses the notion.
The crux: The Terrorism Risk Insurance Act allows the federal government to back insurance companies that provide terrorism insurance for major events. No event like the Super Bowl, to be played Feb. 1 in Glendale, Ariz., can go on without it. According to Lauren Simonetti of Fox Business, Congress hasn’t yet renewed the act, which expires Dec. 31.
The NFL isn’t adding any fuel to the report, clearly. However, the league won’t discuss broadly or specifically how it would proceed if the act expires, or what it is doing to ensure that it doesn’t. source: sportingnews.com
