The New York Mets beat the N.Y. Yankees 2-1 on the second game of Subway series, scoring two runs in the ninth inning against Mariano Rivera, who failed for the first time this season to protect a Yankees lead.

With their second successive win against the NY Yankees, the Mets swept the first two-game leg of the Subway Series; however, according to MLB betting lines the Yankees are listed as -127 favorites to win tonight’s game.

But let´s be honest, these two teams are not bringing as much excitement for one of the biggest New York rivalries. The NY Yankees have lost three games in a row for the first time this year, against the Tampa Bay Rays and the last two against the Mets.

For their part, the Mets have lost five of their last eight games and are in the fourth place of the East National League. Another stat to take into consideration for baseball betting fans is that when playing on Wednesday, the N.Y. Yankees are 3-7, while the Mets are 8-2.

On the other side, after facing the Mets, the Yankees have a three-game series against the Boston Red Sox starting on May 31st. It has been an up and down season for the Red Sox, winning four of their last five games.

The Red Sox suffered a 3-1 lost last night against the Philadelphia Phillies, and the series are 1-1. However, Boston remains on the first place of the East American League, with 32 wins and has lost 21 games.

The American League East could have the Boston Red Sox, N.Y. Yankees or Baltimore Orioles get the wild cards, but many believe that the American League wild card will come from the AL West, with the battle between Texas Rangers, who are at +800 to win the 2013 World Series, and the Oakland Athletics at +2200.
