BN- Recap Baseball Leader Board
There’s still more than half a MLB season left to play, but with some great surprises on the leading board. For the American League Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees are leading the East division in first and second respectively, whereas Detroit Tigers with a 42-32 record and Cleveland Indians are with 39-36 are leading the Central Division. As well Texas Rangers and Oakland Athletics are leading the West in the AL in the same order.
For the National League, Atlanta Braves and Washington Nationals leading the East, while St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates are leaders in the Central Division in first and second place. For the West Division in the NL Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies are the leaders with 41-34 and 39-38 record respectively.
In one hand, the Red Sox even with all of the bullpen’s issues have the American League’s best record and a one-game lead over second-place New York Yankees in the AL East.
For New York, they have split a four-game series with the Tampa Bay Rays over the weekend and has lost eight of its last 12. Still and all, the Yankees are only game back in the loss column of the American League East-leading Boston Red Sox.
The Tigers have 10 games over .500 after taking three of four from the AL East-leading Boston Red Sox. They lead the majors in hitting and on-base percentage. They rank second in runs scored and run differential.
On the other hand, the Cleveland Indians got another victory of 5-2 this time against the Orioles on Monday, having PCT over .520, and a record of home record of 24-15 and away record of 15-21.
The Rangers, meanwhile, have rebounded nicely from a six-game losing streak and enter this series having won five in a row and six of their last seven. Texas’ recent surge has catapulted it back on top in the AL West, a game in front of the Oakland Athletics.
Oakland had won 21 of 26 to move out in front of the American League West. However, the A’s have now lost seven of 10 and have fallen a game back of the Texas Rangers in the division.
The Atlanta Braves have hit a rough spot recently, going 6-9 in the 15 games leading up the series in Milwaukee, in which they were sealed out for the 10th and 11th times this season. Tonight the Atlanta Braves will visit Kansas City.
Though the Nationals presently have a descent record, sit seven win games behind the Braves in the NL East and they still have over .493.
The Cardinals, who have the majors’ best record at 47-29, were beaten hardly for the first time this season and summed just seven runs against the Rangers. Now the Cardinals will be opening a two-game set at Houston.
On the other hand, the Pittsburgh Pirates are made around a pitching staff that has the NL’s third-best ERA. They’ve won 11 of their last 14 one-run games, including on Sunday in Anaheim when they were behind from three runs down in the ninth inning to tie it, scored four more in the 10th and then held on for a 10-9 victory.
The Arizona Diamondbacks lost against the Cincinnati on Sunday 4-2 but they still have a great 41-34 record with PCT of .547.
The Rockies ended a five-game slip by winning two straight at Washington over the weekend. They trail the Diamondbacks by three games in the NL West.
