Preakness Stakes Winner Oxbow ends Orb’s hopes
Once again the Triple Crown run has failed as the second jewel of this famous thoroughbred racing, the Preakness Stakes has new winners – Oxbow and jockey Gary Stevens.
The Pimlico Race course in Maryland was the scenario of Oxbow’s wire to wire victory. This prominent colt’ stellar pedigree (Awesome Again offspring and Cee’s Tizzy mare – full sister to two-time Breeders’ Cup Classic winner), trainer hall of famer D. Wayne Lukas and jockey Gary Stevens were extremely important facts that contribute to win the race.
This year’s favorite Kentucky Derby winner Orb had some interesting horse betting odds of even money to a price of 3/5, then surprisingly, Departing’odds shifted from 6/1 to 13/1 while Mylute remained at 6/1.
From the start of the race it was clear this was meant for Oxbow as it stormed through and rallied for the finish line. Oxbow’s payouts came to $32.80 (Win), $12 (Place) and $6.80 (Show).
Itsmyluckyday came in second place and Mylute completed the trifecta. Kentucky Winner Orb followed in fourth place then came Goldencents in fifth place.
On June 8th, 2013 the last and most demanding race of the Triple Crown will take place at Belmont Park in New York. The Belmont Stakes is the oldest race of the three and it’s attendance has gathered more than 100 thousand horse racing enthusiasts in the past years.
The 145th Belmont Stakes official wagering lines have not yet been released as we are still 3 weeks away; but some of the predictions mention horses like: Orb, Oxbow, and Mylute at the top of the list.
Surprisingly for many the favorite to win this year’s Belmont Stakes or “The Test of Champions” is Mylute alongside jockey Rosie Napravnik from Morristown, New Jersey.
