Unofficial Half of the Year Awards 2013
With half of the year gone already we have a recap on who stood up from the rest; with a great record of submissions in the UFC FX 8 in Brazil during this past month looks like everything looks good for those who had a positive result and the ones who practice the discipline of tap out. With some different fighters and fights that made the difference on this last six months, we offer a recap on what happened and which ones were the best of the best.
The first one would be Urijah Faber, he had a victory and finished twice defeating extremely tough fighters Ivan Menjivar and Scott Jorgensen and ended up twice that night with a rear naked choke. The former WEC featherweight champion has been associated for many years because of this guillotine choke to the Team Alpha Male Squad also known as the Team Guillotine, and he probe why this year.
For Antonio Braga Neto and Anthony Smith fight, the second one respected very much Neto’s game and thought that he has faced the best jiu-jitsu against Roger Gracie, but that night against Neto he realize that Jiu-jitsu can be very effective; at the end of the fight Neto locks on the fight ending kneebar and won; an unexpected final for a very difficult fight.
Another great fight was against Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza and Chris Camozzi; Ronaldo has a great ground game and has been trying to improve on the stand up attack, but his power and technique sent Chris Camozzi to sleep as soon as he did an arm triangle choke effectively and won the fight in no time.
These are just some fights that had impressive results, but for the upcoming events like the UFC 162 we expect to see much more, starting by the great fight and event of the night between the middleweight champion Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman.
